Wild Killer Whales Underwater - (x)

They swim up to 100 miles a day. To think that keeping them in a little chlorinated pool is an acceptable form of entertainment is just cruel.

^^^

ok yes i agree its beyond cruel to keep them in pools and i’m 100% against sea world but dont just make shit up to get notes? if it was a chlorinated pool they would die within a few hours of being in the pool i swear to god people on tumblr….

A sea world trainer told us that they use chlorine in the pool, you can even smell it when you are there. Bye

We have proof that they use chlorine, it isn’t even a question of if they do or don’t, those pools are crystal clear because of chlorine. Here’s an article on the subject.  In fact, basically all cetacean tanks in most facilities use chlorine or other similar chemicals to control issues in water clarity, from preventing algae to keeping whale/dolphin poos and other bodilly things from fogging up the water. Some places like MarineWorld Canada use so much chlorine that it literally burns the animals eyes to the point where their eye lenses come off, their skin practically melts off. It’s disgusting. While Sea World isn’t as bad as marineworld, they still have plenty of issues from use of chemicals.

Unlike fish, who would die in chlorine because they’d breathe it in, like us, whales and dolphins are air breathers, so the chemical doesn’t kill them outright like it doesn’t kill us from swimming in it. Like us, though, it does irritate the eyes and skin if left too long, unfortunately, so unlike us, who can leave the pools, the cetaceans cannot. (Plus, you can literally smell the chlorine at the facility, both inside and from outside.) If you do a bit of research, you will find that these findings are in fact true.

I’ve been to Marine World and yes, can confirm they use chlorine to clean the tanks.

The smell is unmistakeable, and I was a competitive swimmer at the time–I know what chlorine smells like, and it was strong.
